Concave for CLAAS combine – role in the threshing process
The CLAAS concavewith part number 00 2731 863 1 is astationary, perforated component of the threshing system, which works directly with the threshing drum. It is responsible for creating the right conditions forefficient separation of grain from strawduring the threshing stage. Through friction and the impact of the crop material pulled between the drum and the concave, the grain is threshed from the ears. Perforations in its design allow for the passage ofthreshed grainand fine chaff to the lower parts of the machine, directing them further into the cleaning system. A correctly selected and maintained concave directly affectsharvest purityandminimising losses.
Where is the concave located in a CLAAS combine
The concaveis mounted directlyunder the threshing drum, in the lower part of the threshing chamber. It forms a gap with it through which the crop material passes, undergoing intense impact and friction. Thanks to the possibility ofadjusting the distance between the concave and the drum, the operator can adjust the intensity of the threshing process to current harvesting conditions – the type of crops, their moisture level, or degree of maturity. The concave can be mounted in segments, which facilitates maintenance or adjustment to a specific crop (e.g. rapeseed, wheat, maize).
Application and functionality of the CLAAS concave
The main applicationof the CLAAS concaveis to provideefficient threshing and pre-separation. Working with the threshing drum, it enables effectiveseparation of grain from plant residues, before the material goes to further sections of the combine. Thanks to the holes in its surface, part of the grain is captured already at this stage, which relieves the straw walkers and the cleaning system.Adjustable threshing gapallows for precise adjustment to the parameters of the harvested crop. High-grade materials from which the concave is made guaranteewear resistanceand resistance to mechanical damage, which translates into long service life even in demanding working conditions.

It is used in manyCLAAS LEXIONmodels, such as the 500, 600, 700, and 800 series – both in straw walker versions and in APS HYBRID systems, where it plays a key role before the separation rotors.
